Tiles give a very elegant and colourful aesthetic to a kitchen, not only on the floors but on the walls as well. Tiles are get way to create a backsplash against the other design elements. If selected creatively, tiles stand out from the other design features. At the same time they also handsomely complement them. Tiles also provide a sanitary atmosphere and are very easy to clean.
Tiles are commonly used on the walls between the counter and the wall-mounted cabinets. However, you can also create your entire kitchen counter with glazed porcelain. The material not only looks sophisticated, you also get toughness and durability. You could mount the same tiles on the wall above or just paint it the same colour. However, the best part is you can now decorate that wall in some other interesting manner.
Wherever you use the tiles, choose the material carefully. For e.g. ceramic tiles are versatile and very good looking; however now it comes with ant-bacterial properties. It helps keep the kitchen fresh. Dual-coloured cement tiles can give your kitchen an exotic and casual elegance. However, to minimise grout and stain, have your cement tiles pre-treated with and acrylic sealer.

A neat trick is to use porcelain tiles shaped in a pattern and highlighting the grout with a different colour. Grout colours have a standard palette, but some manufacturers can also customise a colour of your choice. You can also make your own pattern mesh-back penny tiles. You can cut them into sheets of different widths and apply them alternately. However, try to install big-sized tiles. They will give your less grout, hence are easier to clean.
